In January, we celebrated our 6-year anniversary.
Woman of the Year - 2026
We are proud to announce our Woman of the Year for 2026 is Michele McCue Shaffer
Michele is our Recording Secretary and member of the Sisters of Saint Brigid since its inception. She is an active member of Assumption Church serving as Faith Formation Director for 12 years, Eucharistic Minister, and Lector. Currently she is the President of the Women of Irish Heritage in West Orange, a member of the West Orange St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee, a member of the Irish Association of the Oranges, a member of the American Legion Post 390 in Denville, NJ, and a Friend of the Friendly Sons of Shillelagh. Michele is the Chair for American Legion Auxiliary Unit 390 for Girls State and a volunteer for Wreaths Across America in Denville, NJ. She was the Deputy Grand Marshal of the 2023 West Orange St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
Several years ago, Michele selflessly donated one of her kidneys to someone in need. She recently encouraged support of her recipient when he was undergoing significant health challenges. She is always friendly, positive and caring and does everything for all the right reasons – never seeking personal glory. She is an incredible lady and exemplifies the values of the mission of the SOSB.
She has taken an active role in making sure SOSB’s reputation is something we can all be proud of. She is an outspoken SOSB member who does not shy away from our mission statement and all the issues involved in making that mission a reality. Michele is committed to the success of SOSB and its mission.
Michele is the quintessential example of Christian faith, integrity, and Irish pride. She is passionate about her religion and Irish heritage.
